Description

Mepilex Border Flex Foam Dressing uses innovative technology to absorb bacteria and reduce skin stress. Wound Dressings like these stick to skin while absorbing secretions and exudate at a rapid pace. Using Safetac technology, each of the five layers of Mepile Flex works to keep swelling down and reduce skin pain associated with exposure to moisture, according to the manufacturer. This silicone foam dressing comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from 3 by 3 in. and 6 by 8 in.

What is Mepilex Border Flex used for?

This dressing is best used for exuding wounds. Some examples of these wounds are:

  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Foot Ulcers
  • Leg Ulcers
  • Skin Tears
  • Surgical Wounds

This product can also be used for dry wounds in combination with gels.

How to Apply

Prepare the Wound

Clean the wound by running it under water and wiping it with a cloth or wipe. Wear disposable gloves if necessary. Dry the surrounding skin using a cloth or towel.

Apply the Border Flex

Grab a dressing, and remove the outer, purple lining. Carefully place over the wound or affected area. Smooth the adhesive part of the bandage over the skin, making sure to avoid wrinkles and stretching the product.

Change Frequency

The manufacturer states the covering can be used up to 7 days, depending on the wound condition. Users should change their dressing as often as needed. If the bandage's padding is heavily wet when it is removed, it should be changed more often.
